LABOR DAY-HISTORY

Who doesn’t love a day off? But what is Labor Day?

WHEN IS LABOR DAY?

Labor Day is the always the first Monday in September.

HISTORY OF LABOR DAY LEGISLATION

In 1885 & 1886 municipalities passed legislation. Then states started passing bills. Finally, June 28, 1894 Congress passed an act and the first Monday in September became Labor Day.

WHAT IS LABOR DAY?

Labor Day is a day to celebrate American workers in all their social and economical achievements.

This information came from https://www.dol.gov/general/laborday/history. In summary this came from that website, “The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pays tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation’s strength, freedom, and leadership – the American worker.”

Enjoy your day off. Thank you for what you do for this country!
