What Do We Use Field Corn For?
Just a few weeks ago, we delved in to how farmers harvest corn. After that corn is harvested and delivered, what is it used for?
Corn Facts:
- The average American consumes 35.2 pounds of corn products per year. (https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/ag-and-food-statistics-charting-the-essentials/food-availability-and-consumption/)
- In 2018:
- 89.1 million of acres of corn were planted. (An acre is approximately the size of a football field).
- 81.7 million acres were harvested.
- 14.4 billion bushels produced (A bushel is 56 pounds, approximately the same as a big bag of dog food).
- The average price was $3.60 per bushel.
- All of the 2018 information came from (http://www.worldofcorn.com/#us-corn-at-a-glance)
What does 1 bushel of corn make?
